The Next Step / 次の一歩

2016 came and went in a flash. I feel like just yesterday we were having our first meetings about Jikininki and now I’m having three or four meetings a day about the several projects that all start at the beginning of 2017.

I’m very proud of the work we did this year. “The Actor and the Model” was our first attempt at a serious film and it is doing very well at film festivals. “Jikininki” was a blast to make and still has quite a lot of life left in it. Thanks to these two films we were able to gain a lot of new fans and our family grew. Even “Till Death” picked up a few new film festivals this year! As always I am so grateful to everyone that comes to our events and everyone that is a regular part of our team. This project would have no meaning without everyone being a part of it!

Tokyo Cowboy is heading towards its third year. My favorite thing about this project is that we are always growing and always moving forward. A new actress comes in and suddenly I’m flooded with brilliant ideas for a new story. What would happen if she and Camilla had a fight scene? How would she and Maria play off of each other as spies? A new director comes in and I am inspired once again. How would Kyle and Cynthia work under their guidance? What would Haku do if he directed her in a serious role? How would a director from another country work with Ono or Kosuke?

Tokyo Cowboys is a volunteer project. That means you come to play when you have time. When you don’t have time or lose interest you are free to go. Though it breaks my heart, 2016 saw some key players bow out. As my dear friend and muse Camilla said, all we can do is be thankful for the time we had together and look forward. As people leave us it gives new talent a chance to come on board and Tokyo Cowboys is born anew.

2016 came and went. As a team we took great steps forward. I’m very excited to start showing you what we have in store for 2017. We have two new films cooking, one in preproduction and one already in production. We have two side projects tied to our past films in the work as well! Look forward to updates about all these new projects starting next week!

いつの間にか2016年が終わるところだね。本当に昨日”食人鬼”の最初の打ち合わせした気がするけど、もう2017年のプロジェクトの打ち合わせは毎日3つぐらいある！ｗばたばたしてるけど楽しい！

今年、すごくいい作品二つ撮ったと思う。”The Actor and the Model”はいつも撮ってる作品とちょっと違う雰囲気。でも社会的なメッセージがあるし、同性恋愛のテーマだし、撮ってよかったと思う。そして怖いと思いながら笑う”食人鬼！“この短編映画はまだまだ来年の頭から色々な映画祭に出すから見ていない人がいれば是非映画祭でお会いしましょう！2015年の”Till Death”も映画祭が決まったから凄く嬉しい！本当にいつも試写会とか上映会に来てる客さんからキャストとスタッフの皆さんまで、とても感謝しています。いつもありがとうございます！皆さんのために来年も頑張りたいと思ってる。

もうちょっとしたらTokyo Cowboysが三年目になる。Tokyo Cowboysの一番好きなポイントはこのチームがいつも進んでる。前、フォワード、これから。。。プランは必ずある。そして、必ず新しいメンバーが入る。新しいキャストが作品に出てくれる。その新スタッフとキャストにインスパイアされる。例えば、新しい女優がメンバーになったら、おぉぉ、カミラと喧嘩シーンがあったらどうかな？とか、マリアと二人でスパイになったらどんな話になるだろう？そんな考えがたくさん生まれる。新しい監督さん知り合ったら、カイルとシンシアと同じ現場になったらどうなんだろう？とか、海外の監督さんが日本人のHaku、Ono, Kosukeと一緒に撮影すればどうなんだろうと楽しみにしながら考えちゃう。

たださ、Tokyo Cowboysはボランティアプロジェクトだね。つまり時間があれば、興味があれば、参加していいんだけど、時間がなくなったら、興味がなくなったら、そのままで辞めていい。とても寂しいけど2016年、大事な人々がTokyo Cowboysを卒業した。何より仲がいい友達カミラが言ってくれたこと：これからだけはある。今までの時間はすごく有難いだけど、進むよりしょうがない。

私もそう思う。今まではありがとう！そしてまた時間があれば喜んで戻ってきて！でも一人が辞めたら、一人が入るスペースができる。そして、新しいスタッフとキャストのお陰で、Tokyo Cowboysが生き返る！～

2016年がもうすぐ終わるけどこのチームがまだまだ終わっていない。来年の頭から新作品二つのプロダクションが始まる。そして去年撮った作品二つに関係あるプロジェクトも来年の頭紹介する！どんなプロジェクトだろう？ｗ来週からこのブログで色々発表するから是非楽しみにしてね。
